Hi, I’m Jeremy

I’ve been doing this design thing for a while now. More than a decade and a half if we are counting. I’ve typically been given the job title of art director and/or senior brand designer. Although I’ve also been given the job title of creative director a couple times. Title aside, what I do is lead the concept and design of visual identities and campaigns. Through it all I have remained hands on and still love taking on smaller projects myself. However my experience and connections also let me build teams should that be what your project requires.
During my career I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with some of the world’s most iconic brands: Amazon, Xbox, T-Mobile, Nike, Adidas, Columbia Sportswear, Magic the Gathering, and more. This means I have worked on many larger projects, the kinds of projects that I could not possibly complete alone. So I had a team to back me up and have worked with and mentored some amazing designers. But if you’re not yet a larger brand, don’t let that put you off. I’m really less tied to working with big brands and more interested in building amazing brands or campaigns with good people.
I offer basic branding packages that usually start at around $5,000. They include: logos, color palettes, typography, custom brand assets, mockups of how your brand can look in the real world, and brand guidelines to make sure your brand stays consistent and looks its best. No two projects are the same though, so your quote will vary depending on your needs. I do occasionally offer discounts for nonprofits or causes I believe in and, of course, take on smaller non-branding system projects if you already have a brand. If you are part of a design agency or internal creative team wanting to work with me, yes, I have hourly and day rates for you folks as well. The best way to learn more or find out if we are a good fit is to contact me. Please be sure to include any budget or timeline restrictions when doing so. It will help me decide how to help you best.

What makes me unique?

Why you should want to work with me.

Focused on finding the best solution:
I’m excellent at finding the real pain point behind the ask. Sometimes we don’t really know what we need; we are faced with a problem and just need a solution. In these situations it’s easy to jump to solutions or default to what we know, have been told, or read online when faced with problems. We just want the problem to go away. Rather than just delivering on an ask, I like to dive a bit deeper, get to know my clients, and really understand the problem we are trying to solve. From here my experience and expertise often let me suggest better solutions. Sometimes those solutions aren’t even me, and that’s OK. I’m always trying to deliver the best solution, one that lasts and, importantly, doesn’t cause other problems later.

Focused on your customers:
I’m always considering the end user or audience, the person who is going to be interacting with the work. This means that even when considering the initial concept and visual strategy behind a brand or campaign, I am ensuring that they will allow us to reach a solution where every design element flows seamlessly into a flexible, scalable, and consistent system that resonates with the audience. If our solutions don’t resonate and land with the audience, they are not really solutions.

System thinking:
If you haven’t picked up on it, I’m always thinking about how things fit together into larger systems or strategies. I’m often considering what impact design decisions make on the brand system elsewhere, and are they worth the long-term cost? Consistent, professional, and just works. These are the things that build a brand customers trust. As my uncle used to say, “You don’t have a healthy orchard if you are overly focused on a single tree.” He was a botanist, but the concept transfers well.

Breadth:
Not just a breadth of design experience, although I have that too. But breadth in my life experiences: I studied mechanical engineering for two years in college; I work on my own cars; I used to be a fire performer; I climb mountains for funsies; I helped throw raves in my 20s; The list goes on. I love learning new things, and while brand design is my specialty, I am always exploring new things. I am in no way a design Swiss Army Knife, but I’m often told that I have a wide breadth of skills and experiences, and I find useful ways of bringing that to my work. I find treating my experiences as transferable skills lets me better understand a wide array of clients and their customers.

I currently reside in the pacific northwest with my active dog. When I am not working I enjoy, cooking, bicycling, working on cars, hiking, and backpacking. Most weekends you are likely to find us on a trail chasing views, or otherwise enjoying all the beauty mother nature has on offer. If you are good people and have a kick ass outdoor brand you just might be my dream client!
